When you use a browser, like Chrome, Firefox etc., it saves some information from websites in its cache and cookies. Clearing them fixes certain problems, like loading or formatting issues on sites.
It is a good idea to clear your browser cache because it:
- prevents you from using old forms
- protects your personal information
- helps our applications run better on your computer
Note: Clearing browser history, cache, cookies etc. might also delete your saved/autofill form data and saved passwords. Make sure you remember them or have it noted with you.
Read instructions below to clear your browser cache memory in:
- 1. Mozilla Firefox
- Follow the below steps to clear browser cache
- Step 1 – Click on Application menu (3 lines button often called Hamburger menu)
- Step 2 – Click on Options from the Application menu
- Step 3 – Click on Privacy and security option from the menu on the left
- Step 4 – Locate History section, and click on Clear History. (Shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Delete)
- Step 5 - Choose the types of data or files you want to remove from your PC, and then select Ok.
- 2. Google Chrome
- Follow the below steps to clear browser cache
- Step 1 – Click on Customize and Control Google Chrome button (vertical 3 dots button)
- Step 2 – Click on settings from the menu
- Step 3 – Click on Privacy and security option from the Settings menu on the left
- Step 4 – Click on Clear browsing data (Shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Delete)
- Step 5 - Choose the types of data or files you want to remove from your PC, and then select Clear Data.
- 3. Microsoft Internet Explorer - Follow one of the two ways to clear browser cache
- Option 1
- Step 1 – Click on Tools (Alt + x) button, it’ll open Tools menu
- Step 2 – Point mouse to Safety, it’ll open a sub-menu
- Step 3 – Click on Delete browsing history (Shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Delete)
- Step 4 – Choose the types of data or files you want to remove from your PC, and then select Delete.
- Option 2
- Step 1 – Click on Tools Menu (Alt + t)
- Step 2 – Click on Internet Options
- Step 3 – Under General Tab, locate Browsing history section

- Step 5 - Choose the types of data or files you want to remove from your PC, and then select Delete.
- 4. Microsoft Edge
- Follow the below steps to clear browser cache
- Step 1 – Click on settings (… 3 dots button)
- Step 2 – Click on settings from the menu
- Step 3 – Click on Privacy, search and services option from the Settings menu on the left
- Step 4 – Locate Clear browsing data, and click on choose what to clear button. (Shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Delete)
- Step 5 - Choose the types of data or files you want to remove from your PC, and then select Clear now.
- 5. Safari
- Follow the below steps to clear browser cache
- Step 1 – Click on settings button
- Step 2 – Click on Show Menu Bar
- Step 3 – Click on Edit Menu
- Step 4 – Click on Empty Cache (Shortcut Ctrl + Alt + E)
- Step 5 - Click Empty.
